It's no secret that last season was a failure for Liverpool, not only did we fail to qualify for the next edition of the UEFA Champions League, but we also left empty-handed and failed to win any trophies. That is why the team's players know that the next campaign cannot be the same as the last one and they seem committed to prevent that from happening.
This summer, Jürgen Klopp and the Anfield board have focused on reinforcing the team, especially in midfield and defense, as it has been said that those would be the two priorities of the German tactician during the transfer window. However, so far only two signings have been made, both in midfield, and although they are very promising players, the imminent departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho could increase the budget and also the possibility of bringing more players to Anfield.
Regardless of who arrives or who leaves the team, the players who know they are part of the squad are aware that next season it is necessary to take a step forward to regain the level that Jürgen Klopp's team had shown in recent years. That is why today more than ever, Klopp needs the commitment of each and every one of the players and one of those who promises to be very important this new campaign is Ibrahima Konaté, as the French central defender, could have his big chance to establish himself as a starter and hopes to dispel Klopp's doubts about who should be the heir to Virgil van Dijk.
In that sense, Konaté has stated his intentions for the upcoming season, in which he hopes to consolidate his place in the team, although he is expected to have new competition if Klopp decides to sign a new defender.
Ibrahima Konaté acknowledged that in his third season he must raise his level and made known what his personal goals are. "I think this season, the third season, I have to level up and show another personality of me on the pitch and in life as well. I have a lot of objectives - a lot of clean sheets, help my team, score some goals and win some trophies" he said.
