This Friday, just a month after reducing the list from the initial 100 candidates to 60, the Tuttosport newspaper has once again made a sieve, publishing a new list with 40 players among which Harvey Elliot and Fabio Carvalho remain. Both Liverpool rookies remain among the candidates for the Golden Boy 2022, as the Reds' sole representatives, just as they have also made it into Jürgen Klopp's latest squad for the upcoming games.

The latest list for the best U21 player of the season award also includes other LaLiga players such as Balde, Ansu Fati, Gavi and Pedri, representing FC Barcelona; Yeremi Pino (Villarreal) and Musah and Nico González (Valencia). It is also possible to see other familiar faces such as Bellingham, Sesko or Musiala, future Real Madrid players.

Another player who stands out is the Frenchman Eduardo Camavinga, who has been selected as one of the 40 finalists for the Golden Boy award given by the Tuttosport newspaper to the best young footballer in Europe. The 19-year-old French midfielder, now in his second season as a Real Madrid player, is playing an increasingly important role under Carlo Ancelotti.

The former Rennes man, who was already on the Italian newspaper's shortlist of 100 candidates, is one of the main favourites to win the award alongside Barcelona's Gavi, Pedri and England's Jude Bellingham. Rodrygo Goes is not in the shortlist of Golden Boy nominees because only players born on or after 1 January 2002 are eligible for the award.

Which other players are nominated?

Camavinga is in luck because he has also been called up by Didier Deschamps for the upcoming international break. The midfielder is back in the French senior squad almost two years after his last call-up and his chances of going to the World Cup have multiplied in recent months.
