Liverpool player who posted about Queen Elizabeth

In English football, a moment of mourning was imposed by the death of Queen Elizabeth II, which also led to the suspension of the Premier League matchday that was to be played this weekend. Liverpool made a curious publication on their social networks to join the messages dedicated to the former monarch of the United Kingdom for 70 years.

But of all their players, only one shared the post on their respective social media profiles, a situation that caught the attention of Reds fans. It was French defender Ibrahima Konaté who shared an image of Queen Elizabeth presenting Liverpool with a trophy on his Instagram stories.  The player is currently injured and has not played this season.

The death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday at Balmoral Castle caused different reactions worldwide, as she was a renowned leader who spent 70 years on the throne. Sport was not left out of this impact and neither was football, so several clubs set out their position on the matter through their social media profiles.

The Premier League was among the first accounts to post a message and change its logo to black as a sign of mourning, an act that all competing clubs followed. In turn, Liverpool posted a message on all their social media accounts such as Twitter, Faceook and Twitter about their grief at the death of the 96-year-old with a black and white portrait. 

<strong>Premier League suspended</strong>

Because of this, the Premier League decided that Liverpool would not play this weekend's matchday when they were due to host Wolverhampton at Anfield on Saturday. The suspension will allow the Reds to focus on Tuesday's Champions League group stage match against Ajax of the Netherlands, following Wednesday's defeat to Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
