He’s [Gomez] got loads of time. He’s got 10 yards of space and all of a sudden it becomes a battle. He gives away the free-kick away. Premier League players should be able to find whatever pass they need [in that position]', were the words of Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler after their loss to Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool continue to be inconsistent in the Premier League. After beating leaders Manchester City the previous matchday, they were surprised by Nottingham Forest as they were beaten by the minimum. The game started with the Reds looking to score, but Forest were cutting the tempo of the game by constantly committing fouls. In the opening minutes of the first half both teams created chances, with Klopp's side having the clearest.

In the second half Taiwo Awoniyi, who was Steve Cooper's side's most dangerous man in the first 45 minutes, put the home side ahead from a set-piece, confirming that Liverpool have not corrected the defensive errors that have cost them points all season. After the goal, Klopp's side went forward with all their attacking power in search of an equaliser, but they failed to score the goal that would give them a chance of a point.

This defeat confirmed Liverpool's inconsistent season. It took 23 years for Forest to return to the Premier League and face their most hated rivals again, and 30 years to beat them again. Forest started the day at the bottom of the table, but they used a vibrant Trentside atmosphere to produce their performance of the season.

Joe Gomez had a very bad presentation

Although the loss to Forest was 1-0, it could have been more costly due to a number of Gomez misses in defence, as well as a great performance by Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker. Gomez has taken a place in the starting line-up in the absence of Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konaté, but the Frenchman could already return for Wednesday's Champions League game against Ajax.
