The atypical 66th edition of the Ballon d'Or that will not have Lionel Messi in its list of possible winners has been carried out, taking for obvious reasons the award for the best player the French international and Real Madrid player, Karim Benzema, leaving on the way several players as was the case of the Liverpool striker, Mohamed Salah, who despite not having been the first place continues to demonstrate from the Premier League that meets all the requirements to be the next to get the trophy.
As is now tradition, the winner came from a list of thirty players who are considered to be the best in the world at the moment, with the participation of players from Italy, Spain, France, Germany and England, the latter being the country that had a considerable participation with its most important teams in the Premier League, highlighting Liverpool, an institution that constantly repeats itself.

Neither Salah's goal nor Allison's assist, this was Liverpool's best according to Klopp
Forty per cent of the final list has been occupied only by players currently playing in the Premier League, with Manchester United and Tottenham having less participation with only two players, while Manchester City and Liverpool are the ones who get the attention with six players each. But even though the Cityzens have the same number of players as the Anfield side, it was the latter who came closest to the trophy with the incredible performances of all their players and above all the great displays of Mohamed Salah.
The reality is that what the Real Madrid striker has achieved has been comparable to the great performances of players such as Robert Lewandowski and Mohamed Salah, earning the Egyptian striker a fifth place in these nominations, making it clear that the Egyptian's performances are worthy of one of the best players in the world, who continues to break records for his institution, as well as for La Liga and Europe.
Five other current Liverpool players who were also in the nomination were below Salah, with Fabinho coming 14th, Virgil van Dijk 16th, Luis Diaz 17th, Trent Alexander-Arnold 11th and Darwin Nunez the lowest at number 25. The only player to overtake the Egyptian was Sadio Mané, who is no longer with Liverpool but with Bayern Munich, but as the award takes into account what he has done over the last few years, the Senegalese outstripped his former team-mate and duo in second place.
