Todd Boehly's Chelsea is in a constant state of reform. Since his arrival this summer, the American owner has already replaced the coach (Tuchel for Potter), the main executives (Cech, Granovskaia) and has significantly reshaped the squad with the arrivals of Sterling and Koulibaly as opposed to the departures of Christensen and Rüdiger. It is all the work of Boehly, who has decided to personally manage a large part of the London club.

The American was one of the agitators of the market, but his masterstroke seems to have been reserved for next summer. According to Bild, Chelsea approached Christopher Nkunku in the final stages of the transfer window and negotiations were held for the French striker. It even says that they came to an agreement with Nkunku to undergo a pre-signing medical on 30 August in Frankfurt, a neutral city for both the Blues and RB Leipzig.

Other sources, however, claim that this examination was due to the player's private medical insurance. In any case, the operation did not take place and the player from Lagny-sur-Marne continued to fulfil his contract, which was renewed in June 2022 and runs until 2026. If nothing goes wrong, Chelsea 'left it up to Chelsea to sign the striker. He renewed, but an 'affordable escape' was prepared with a termination clause of 60 million euros, 13 less than Olocip's estimated market value (73.2 million euros).

However, German coach Jürgen Klopp could become involved in the negotiations because he is also interested in the French striker in order to sign him for Liverpool. According to local media reports, the Reds will seek to wrest the signing from Chelsea because they are still not giving up and will make an offer to Leipzig. Since the departure of Mané, the Anfield side have lost power up front and Nkunku could be the solution to the lack of goals.

This price, just after renewing, points to an upcoming exit that Chelsea have already worked on a summer earlier. At 24, Nkunku is ready to 'make the leap again'. The Frenchman emerged as one of Paris Saint-Germain's most promising academy players, but given the quality of his attack, he never got the minutes he needed to continue to grow and decided to try an intermediate step in search of a return to the elite after making 78 appearances in Paris and scoring eleven goals.
