With just over a month to go until the start of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, Liverpool are planning a "mini-pre-season" during the international tournament, in which they will try to recover their injured players and also keep up the pace of competition for the second half of the 2022/2023 season. As reported by the Liverpool Echo, the Anfield side will leave the UK and head to Dubai, with the aim of escaping the harsh winter weather and training in warmer climes.

So far, Liverpool have confirmed a friendly match against AC Milan of Italy, who would also take advantage of the break to hold a pre-season training camp in the Middle East. "Liverpool and Arsenal have already agreed to play AC Milan during their warm-weather training camps in Dubai. The Gunners are also looking at another big-name opponent who have arranged to base themselves in the Middle East so players can fly in from Qatar once their World Cup campaigns are over."

Jurgen Kloop's aim is to give the players who are not playing in the World Cup some time off, but then concentrate on getting them back to competitive level. In addition, he has in mind to add to the squad the players who finish their respective commitments with the national teams in the World Cup.  Although the Colombian Luis Diaz will miss more than ten matches due to a delicate injury in his left knee. He is expected to be sidelined for between six and eight weeks, so his return would not take place until after the World Cup.

Precisely the preseason that Liverpool will do in Dubai will help the club and the Colombian to recover and return to the level he has shown with the Anfield team. The fourth day of the Champions League group stage was played at Ibrox Stadium, where Rangers faced Liverpool, two teams with the need to get three points and define the clubs that still have a chance for the next round.
