The Reds slipped to their second Premier League defeat of the season, this time at Anfield against a resurgent Leeds United

After an emphatic 3-0 win over Ajax FC in the Champions League where they secured their fifth consecutive place in the Round of 16, Liverpool returned to action in the Premiership for Matchday 14, where a big surprise awaited them as bottom side Leeds United beat the Reds at Anfield, their second defeat in the EPL.

The Peacocks took a breath of fresh air with a tremendous away result. Prior to this game the situation was critical for Leeds United, who had not won since August 21 when they beat Chelsea FC at Elland Road, a result that cut short German coach Tomas Tuchel's tenure and got Leeds fans excited, but then came a hurricane of stumbles and bad decisions.

Surprisingly, Leeds United struck first and with an early goal from Spaniard Rodrigo (4'), they began to look brave and believe an upset was possible. Liverpool responded almost immediately, when Egypt's Mo Salah (14') levelled the scores, but the game went into a back-and-forth affair that led to a late goal from Dutchman Crysencio Summerville (89').

This goal not only silenced Anfield, but also caused the visiting bench to explode, where manager Jesse Marsch began to show signs of his ecstasy, until the final whistle of English referee Michael Oliver, when the broadcast cameras focused on the American's peculiar celebration that provoked boss Jürgen Klopp who stood with the whole stadium in disbelief at the result that sent the Red's down to 9th place.
