It seems that finally the Liverpool board will be able to put an end to the saga of Romeo Lavia, who for weeks now has been linked with our Liverpool as Jürgen Klopp has him on the list of targets to reinforce the team as the top priority before the end of the summer transfer window and it seems that, after weeks of negotiations, Lavia will be a new Reds player.
The 19-year-old Belgian defensive midfielder, who currently still belongs to Southampton, is also reportedly desperate to complete his move and join England's biggest and most important club. In that sense, everything seems to indicate that Romeo Lavia's arrival at Anfield is only a matter of time, as the player was once again left out of the Saints' squad to face their second game of the season and has not had minutes with the team, which has fueled the rumors and the hopes of those who wish to see him in the uniform of our Liverpool.
Several media have reported that both the player and his entourage are eager to join Liverpool and Jürgen Klopp seems to have big plans for him, since the departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, the need for our team to sign a defensive midfielder has become urgent and Lavia seems to be the one chosen by the German tactician to be the future of the team in that position.
After three rejected bids, the Anfield board seems to have given in and will finally pay the £50 million initially requested by Southampton to sign Romeo Lavia, with whom everything is supposedly agreed in terms of what will be his new contract with Liverpool.
According to the latest information, Romeo Lavia would sign a five-year contract, i.e. until 2028, with an option for an additional year. Although the exact amount Lavia would earn at Liverpool has not yet been revealed, it is expected to be a considerable increase on the £38k per week he earns at Southampton and some speculate that his salary could rise to £80-90k per week.
