One of the toughest weeks on the calendar for Liverpool FC got off to a tense start. After a 7-1 win over Rangers FC in Glasgow, Scotland, Jürgen Klopp's side will host Manchester City at Anfield Road, who, unlike the Reds, are momentarily in contention at the top of the Premier League 22/23 table.
This situation has prompted several former Liverpool players and icons to express their feelings, one of them being 2005 UEFA Champions League winner Didi Hamann, who said the result at the Ibrox Stadium was a slight improvement on what is happening in the league, where the club is 14 points off the pace, and left last weekend to close the gap directly on leaders Arsenal.

Klopp reacted sarcastically to reporters' questioning about what he thought of his German compatriot's comments. "Oh, great. A fantastic source (Hamann), well respected everywhere," commented the manager who has been in charge of the Reds since 2016, leaving this season as the worst start in his short era. Didi commented "I really don't understand" why Jürgen took issue with his words.
Hamann expanded on the situation with the head coach. "It is a matter that is obvious, where at the moment, there are problems at Liverpool. Klopp may see it differently and if he thinks I'm talking nonsense, then he should say so. I don't have a problem with that at all, you have to respect other opinions, and that's why I didn't really understand what he said," he told SKY Sports Germany.
Liverpool are at a key point in the season, where while they have yet to book their place in the last 16 of the Champions League, the team must push against the current and pick up as many points as possible ahead of the Qatar 2022 World Cup break, where they will lose star players with the risk of an overloaded search and/or injury, so every point in contention is important in the fight for the Premier League.
