Liverpool again claimed victory at Anfield, this time against Newcastle, but in a very different way to last Saturday's 9-0 thrashing of Bournemouth. This time, on the stroke of half-time, Fabio Carvalho rescued an agonising victory for Jurgen Klopp's side.
In the 38th minute, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak put the upon Tyne side in front, while Firmino equalised in the 61st minute after several misses and approaches from Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah and Co. had failed to penetrate the visitors' defence.
Just 11 minutes into the game, Luis Diaz fought a ball in the air against Newcastle defender Jamaal Lascelles, but the Colombian's head hit the Englishman's, who did not suffer the same fall, as Diaz put his hands to his head and lay down for a while, prompting a reaction from Klopp.
Jurgen Klopp was concerned when he saw Luis Diaz on the floor after the collision with Lascelles, he grimaced and turned to the bench to review the substitution options, although it was a couple of minutes, the whole of Anfield was also anxious to see Diaz on his feet.
Given the injury crisis, a new player, in this case, one of Klopp's favourite starters in the starting 11, would have been a major problem for Liverpool, after they had a tough game in which they managed to snatch victory in the 90th minute after several bounces in the box that young Fabio Carvalho took advantage of to score.
