Manchester City and Liverpool play this Saturday at Etihad Stadium for the Premier League leadership. The last time the two sides met was on April 1 this year, a match that ended in a 4-1 win for Manchester City on Matchday 29 of last season's Premier League campaign. Of the last five meetings between the sides, two were won by Pep's side and the rest were won by Klopp's side.

There were only two teams Erling Haaland had yet to score against in the Premier League. And one of them was Liverpool. Until this Saturday. The Norwegian star has achieved this Saturday his first goal against the 'reds' in the English championship and has advanced to Pep Guardiola's team. Now it's down to Brentford.

Haaland has also broken yet another career record: it is his 50th Premiership goal and he has become the player who has scored in the fewest number of games, 48. Until now, the record was held by Andy Cole, who reached 50 Premiership goals in 65 games. Alan Shearer, another legend, scored in 66. As for Haaland's goal against Liverpool, he scored in the 27th minute after a slalom from Nathan Aké. The Norwegian striker connected with a left-footed shot to beat Alisson Becker, who made a mistake on his way out.

A poor game for Curtis

Liverpool's worst performer in the first half was Curtis Jones who made misplaced deliveries and failed to press in midfield properly. Coach Jürgen Klopp made a mistake by fielding him in such an important game and especially despite having players like Endo or Gravenberch on the bench who could help him.
