Ibrahima Konate is set to miss the start of the 2022-23 season after sustaining an injury during Sunday’s pre-season encounter with RC Strasbourg Alsace. The centre-back was forced from the field in the second half of the Anfield fixture having picked up a knock.
Writing on social media, Konate confirmed: “Unfortunately, I have to spend some time off the pitch but it won’t be too long. “In the meantime, I will be doing my best to come back even stronger and supporting the boys.”
French international Konate, of course, set pulses racing across the red half of the Merseyside divide last weekend. This came upon the 23-year-old limping out of Liverpool’s friendly meeting with Strasbourg, with what appeared to be a knee problem.
Speaking to the media post-match, Jurgen Klopp was keen to play the seriousness of the situation down, assuring that Konate’s injury ‘didn’t look too concerning’.
Unfortunately for all associated with Liverpool, though, the reality of the situation has since proven altogether more alarming. As per an official statement across the club’s website and social media platforms: Konate himself, meanwhile, has since taken to Instagram, to send a message to the Liverpool faithful.
