Finally, the sanction has arrived. Jürgen Klopp has been suspended by the Football Association (FA) for one match with immediate effect, meaning he will not be available for Liverpool's final Premier League game against Southampton. The manager was sent off against Manchester City at Anfield on 16 October for lashing out at assistant referee Gary Beswick and arguing at the end of the game.
Initially, he had only received a fine, but now the penalty has been increased. The German was fined £30,000 by an independent regulatory commission, but avoided a touchline penalty. However, the FA made another decision, and he will now have to watch the Reds' final game before the World Cup break in Qatar from the sidelines.

The FA statement explained of the sanction imposed: "An independent Appeal Board has allowed the FA's appeal against a sanction by the Independent Regulatory Commission in relation to the recent case involving Jürgen Klopp. Liverpool play Southampton at Anfield on Saturday. The FA successfully appealed the decision to only fine Klopp for his outburst with a referee in the Premier League match at Anfield.
"As a result, the Liverpool manager has been suspended from the touchline for one match with immediate effect, fined £30,000 and warned as to his future conduct," the publication added. The FA felt that was too lenient and an independent appeal board on Friday suspended Klopp with immediate effect. Klopp also received a warning about his conduct in future matches.
Klopp will have to wait until December to return to the bench. Liverpool host Southampton on Saturday after returning to winning ways against Tottenham and eliminating Derby County on penalties in the third round of the EFL Cup. Klopp had initially been fined £30,000 by an independent regulatory commission for his conduct on 16 October.
