The Reds' defeat at Anfield puts this side on a par with one of the worst in recent years

Liverpool's defeat not only ended the team's unbeaten run, it also ended a personal record Virgil Van Dijk held for almost five years. Liverpool's moment is complicated, they are not getting back on their feet in 2022, although in the Champions League they have managed to qualify for the next round with one game to go, in the Premier League you can see all the shortcomings that Jürgen Klopp and his team have had this season.

The 1-2 defeat to Leeds at Anfield is a blow to Jürgen Klopp's cycle, but especially for Virgil Van Dijk, who started the game and ended up seeing a record that was impossible for any player to achieve slip through his fingers. That game was the first Premier League defeat for Virgil Van Dijk since he arrived at Liverpool's Anfield, 70 games and nearly five years unbeaten for the Dutch defender who arrived as a great solution for the Reds.

Unbelievable, Liverpool boss Klopp in doubt after defeat to Leeds
On the team's current form, Klopp had an explanation: "It's not an excuse, but we have the problem from day one with injuries or half-fit players. Liverpool have suffered badly with injuries in all their lines, at full-back, in the middle and especially up front, "it's a brutal season for us because we've had injuries from day one and we've had to rush some players back," explained Klopp after the defeat that ended Virgil's unbeaten run.

Liverpool and Leeds played a beautiful game at Anfield, but without a winner. Late on, Crysencio Summerville gave Jesse Marsch's side a 2-1 win (Rodrigo Moreno and Mohamed Salah scored the other goals) to break their winless run and end Liverpool's impressive unbeaten run at home. In turn, the visitors climb out of the relegation zone.

Liverpool have taken just 16 points out of a possible 36 - the same number they had after 12 games during Roy Hodgson's calamitous reign in 2010-11. For context, Klopp's men dropped only 22 points in the whole of last season. They currently sit closer to the bottom three than the top four.
