The Reds boss saw the Welsh defender as a good transfer option

England's final group game was against Wales, who despite giving their best on the pitch, were not good enough to get on the scoreboard to qualify for the last 16, leaving them in last place and feeling a little strange that they could have achieved their goal against Iran and the United States.

Although the team that defeated the English looked like one of the worst by finishing last in their group, the reality is that on the pitch there were a couple of players who caught the attention of several coaches, such as Jurgen Klopp, who was surprised by the great performance of right back Neco Williams, surely putting him on his wish list to try to sign him in the not too distant future.

For Klopp, the game between Liverpool and Uruguay is the most important game of the World Cup

The German Reds boss may have been watching the Welsh-English clash just to keep track of his players and Jude Bellingham, but as the game unfolded in the first half, Klopp was complicit in the Nottingham Forest player's great qualities and was amazed to see how much the Liverpool-bred defender had grown up and made his debut for Liverpool a few years ago.

After an unproductive and unsuccessful spell in the Reds first team, Neco Williams decided to emigrate to other institutions with lesser demands and hierarchy within the Premier League, this with the aim of seeking firstly a constancy of play and subsequently an increase in quality that would lead to his national team and the World Cup in Qatar, achieving both objectives without thinking that his good displays would take him to the ranks of important teams in the old continent, surely having the illusion that Liverpool and Klopp see how much he has grown.

Kloop had Neco Williams

Having gained enough experience as a player at Fulham and Nottingham Forrest, Neco will be looking to remain consistently on Klopp's radar in the remaining months of the 2022-2023 Premier League season. For his part, the German manager will be looking to bring the former Wales man back into the side, as he would serve to put some pressure on Trent Alexander-Arnold in defence.
