PSV striker Cody Gakpo quickly became one of the attractions of the World Cup thanks to his two goals for the Netherlands, and is reportedly being scouted by some of Europe's top clubs. Gakpo, 23, has spent his entire career at PSV after joining their youth academy in 2007, and rose through the ranks to become one of Van Gaal's main attacking options.
In his first 14 Eredivisie games of the season, the winger has nine goals and 12 assists to his name. He also started his World Cup campaign with goals in the first two group games against Senegal and Ecuador. Having been linked with Leeds United before the season, he reportedly opted to stay at PSV to secure a move to a bigger club, and now, after his good performances in Qatar, he appears to have opened up the market for Champions League teams.

According to Dutch journalist Marco Timmer, clubs that will try to sign the Dutch talent include Liverpool, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester United. The player, who had already expressed his desire to stay in the Eredivisie until the end of the season before exploring a move to the Premier League, has passed the $60million mark.
Earlier in the season it was reported that PSV's financial situation would force them to accept any further offers in the region of $36m, so if a big-money team comes in with a serious offer in January, it will probably be hard for the Dutch side to refuse. If there is one player who has gone unnoticed until now but has the attention of many clubs thanks to the Qatar 2022 World Cup, it is Cody Gakpo.
The Dutch striker is attracting the attention of all the big teams in Europe after being one of the most outstanding players for the Netherlands. So much so that part of the scouting team sent by Liverpool have already got their reports on the PSV player. The scouting reports from the Reds describe Gakpo as the perfect counterpart to Gareth Bale as far as physical condition is concerned: the two are of a similar height and have a hulking build that deters opponents from going toe-to-toe and seeking physical contact with the two players. The power that Gakpo has in his legs is very reminiscent of the Welsh winger's steady runs and strides. Furthermore, according to various reports he would cost 50 million, much cheaper than keeping Firmino in the squad.
