They're shaking in Manchester! Star striker Erling Haaland suffered an injury during the friendly win over the Faroe Islands in midweek and was rested at the weekend with a view to returning as soon as possible. The Scandinavian may have aggravated an ankle that had been ailing since he left early in City's 6-1 Premier League win over Bournemouth at the start of November, Guardiola opting to replace him after the first 45 minutes of action in a game that had already been decided. The former Borussia Dortmund man has played unchallenged in his club's other games since the crushing win over one of the worst sides in the English top flight.

"It was his decision. He wanted to play 45 minutes to keep the momentum going in a week where we maybe didn't train as much. It was his decision," Norway coach Stale Solbakken said on Saturday. He added that the injury is not serious and that if Sunday's match had been a final, Haaland might have been preparing for it. Norway no longer have a chance of qualifying for Euro 2024 through the group stage, but could do so through the playoffs; they need points to prevent Georgia overtaking them in Group A.

Manchester City have an important game on Saturday 25 November when they host Jürgen Klopp's Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium. The Blues lead the table on the island with 28 points, while the Reds boast a tally of 27. If Haaland plays, the two top scorers in the competition will face each other; the Norwegian has 13 and Mohamed Salah 10.

Will Haaland play on Saturday?

Despite this problem, several reports indicate that Haaland will have no problem playing on Saturday although his condition will not be the best as he has been out of training for several days which will affect him. This is good news for Liverpool and Jurgne Klopp who must win the game to go top of the Premier League.
