Liverpool boss already has new winter signing in mind

The winter transfer window is expected to be extremely busy and, although many players will first have to prove their worth at the World Cup in Qatar, there are coaches like Jürgen Klopp who are already clarifying their list of priorities for January, with Konrad Laimer the player they want to bring back to Darwin Núñez and Mohamed Salah, who are some of the team's biggest stars.

According to BeSoccer, the Austrian midfielder from Leipzig is Klopp's main target to reinforce his squad in January, a squad that is generating all kinds of excitement in these first few months of the competition. Although Liverpool have responded as expected in top-of-the-table games, the Reds have not had the continuity in terms of positive results that was predicted last summer.

The arrival of players like Arthur Melo has only been detrimental to the team's dynamic and it is precisely the Brazilian who will pay for the effects of this possible transfer, which could happen without major complications due to several factors: on the one hand, Klopp's predisposition to have him could translate into an offer of 20 million that would entail an OK from the Saxon side and, on the other hand, the 25-year-old midfielder finishes his contract in 2023 and January is the last chance for his current club to redeem a striking figure for his departure.

It is worth mentioning that Konrad Laimer has barely featured this season due to suffering a ruptured syndesmosis ligament in early September, an injury that has prevented him from being available to coach Marco Rose in the meantime. Despite this, Klopp knows that the Austrian's arrival at Anfield could be fast-tracked, an arrival that could have a far greater impact than is apparent.

Klopp wants Laimer

His return is set for the start of the year, but the doubts generated by Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson and Curtis Jones in this first part of the campaign, with Arthur Melo the man who would pay the worst consequences of this move (he could leave the club), place Laimer as the ideal and affordable piece to bring joy to the project led by Salah, Darwin Nunez and Van Dijk for the second part of the season.
