The Portuguese striker suffered an injury a few days ago and will miss the World Cup

Liverpool striker Diogo Jota (25) suffered a right thigh injury in stoppage time against Manchester City that will keep him out of action for several months until after the World Cup in Qatar. Some English media, following this incident, have echoed some reports from Portugal that Liverpool have already started to work on reinforcements after this loss.

As reported by Sport Witness, Portuguese newspaper O Jogo has claimed that the Reds are interested in signing two midfielders from Benfica. More specifically, O Jogo says that the English side have already initiated "exploratory contacts" for the players. To understand this information, it is worth knowing that, although Diogo Jota is a striker, given the lack of players (aggravated by his injury), Liverpool would take advantage and reinforce their weakest line: the midfield.

O Jogo points to the names of Enzo Fernandez (21 years old) and Florentino Luis (23 years old) as possible winter reinforcements for the Reds. In the case of the 23-year-old pivot, it is very difficult for the English side to sign him, as he has just renewed his contract with the Eagles until 2027 with a termination clause of 120 million euros, a price Liverpool are not planning to go anywhere near.

Ivorian striker Wilfried Zaha (29) is released from his contract with Crystal Palace this summer. The winger has so far made nine appearances for the English side, scoring five goals and providing one assist. In addition to these very good numbers, the attacker has been suspended with one yellow card and has played 88% of the minutes he has been able to play in total.

The player, who is 1'80 metres tall, has a market value of 38 million euros and is paid around 7.75 million euros per season. The striker will be looking for one last big contract to improve his current wages, and the only competitive club that can afford to pay him that salary is Liverpool, so it seems that the Ivorian will not be moving much.
