In addition to the bad footballing moment that the Reds' attacking sector is experiencing, the issue of the poor adaptability of the reinforcements has been an issue that Jurgen Klopp has not been able to handle perfectly during this campaign, happening a few months ago with the entry of Uruguayan Darwin Nunez and now repeating the story with the Dutchman Cody Gakpo who was severely scolded by his coach during the FA Cup match against Brighton.

Despite Gakpo understanding all the responsibility that Klopp put on his shoulders, the young player from the Netherlands cannot do everything on his own on the pitch, being affected by the unstable midfield he has and his poor understanding of the English league, causing all these situations that this element is harmed and ends up not being determinant as his coach would like.

The end of an era, the statement Klopp is being criticised for by fans

While Nunez seems to have failed to understand Klopp's needs and how a centre-forward works in his head, with Gakpo things don't seem to be going in the best way as he has little influence in attack and is not even getting on the scoresheet, with the Reds boss having a lot of work ahead of him as both the number 18 and 27 will continue to be the man in front of goal for some time to come.

Gakpo is looking forward to summer

Without much time to adapt to all the changes that emigrating from the Netherlands to England suggests, Gakpo knows that in the summer and once the campaign is over he will have the chance to train properly and get on better with the group, having as a plus the fact that the midfield could be reinforced and be for the 2023-2024 edition a more solid group in all lines, being able then to shine and be the same element he was at PSV Eindhoven.
