Liverpool are looking to take advantage of AC Milan's growing interest in Naby Keita to negotiate the signing of Sandro Tonali with a greater chance of success. The Italian midfielder is a player that Jürgen Klopp is very keen on.

It is undoubtedly a complicated season for Liverpool at the moment. The Reds have not yet managed to prove themselves fully competitive and their irregularity has condemned them to move in a discreet area of the table (they are currently eighth) and to find themselves no less than 12 points behind the current Premier League leaders, Arsenal.

Aware that their current project is beginning to show cracks, the board has already begun work with the aim of reinforcing some positions that are not offering the desired performance. Among them, a midfield that has been seriously affected by the low level exhibited by their last reinforcement, the Brazilian Arthur.

For weeks, the media have been putting the names of players such as Jude Bellingham, James Maddison and Matheus Nunes on the table, but the list of alternatives does not end here. According to the Daily Express, the Anfield Road outfit are also considering a move for Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali, who plays for AC Milan.

Sandro Tonali would arrive in place of Keita

The 22-year-old's contract with the Rossoneri runs until June 2027, and the English side are keen to take advantage of the Lombardy outfit's growing interest in Naby Keita to move forward with a deal. The Guinean's contract expires in June and the Reds believe that if they somehow favour a pre-agreement between the player and the Italian club, the Milanese board will then be more inclined to negotiate for Tonali.
