With injuries to Thiago Alcántara and Stefan Bajčetić, and the departures of key players such as Henderson and Fabinho from Jürgen Klopp's squad, the Boss has had to work on improvising in this pre-season, although this has helped him to visualise alternatives, it has not been possible to find a natural replacement for the position vacated by Fabinho, only a week before the start of next season, so Klopp has to have some improvised solutions.
So it is most likely that at the start of the Premier League Klopp will have to think about who can temporarily cover this position while the negotiations for Romeo Lavia and André are defined, so most likely he will have to play with Curtis Jones who played against Leicester from 6 and did not do badly, although he has to continue working on improving some aspects the youngster could have a revelation season and be Fabinho's replacement, at least during the beginning of the Premier League.
Curtis Jones is not unfamiliar with playing as a 6, as during the U21 European Championship with England he played on occasions in that position and little by little it seems that he is understanding his role to be able to play in Liverpool as a 6, we must clarify that it will be a position that he will still be learning, so this season will be decisive for the youngster and he will have to convince Klopp.
While this pre-season for Curtis Jones has been regular, having a very good participation in the game against Leicester but being exposed in his game against Bayern Munich by not having a defensive trade and is that his natural position of Jones is more creative than destructive, being a player more offensive than defensive, being the reason why some fans do not end up convincing the idea of Jones as a 6. However and in the absence of closing negotiations for Lavia, Jones seems to be the chosen of Klopp to be the 6 at least at the beginning of the season.
