Klopp wanted to sign him to renew his midfield but in the end the player decided to sign for other club

Portuguese midfielder Matheus Nunes was one of the most watched players in the last summer transfer window and one of the most interested teams was Liverpool as German manager Jürgen Klopp wanted to sign him to renew his midfield but in the end the player decided to sign for Manchester City and now he is paying karma as the Citizens are having a season to forget.

At 25 years of age the Portuguese was one of the most wanted signings in the Premier League after his performances at Wolverhampton so Pep Guardiola's team paid 40 million euros for him but now the midfielder is not even a starter and only plays inconsequential minutes as happened in Wednesday's match in the defeat against Aston Villa.

In the face of Nunes' rejection, the club decided to sign other players who are performing well, such as Japan's Wataru Endo, Hungary's Dominik Szoboszlai and Dutchman Ryan Gravenberch, who have helped Liverpool stay in the Premier League title race in second place in the standings, just two points behind leaders Arsenal but with a better goal difference.

Nunes' karma

So far this season Mateus Monday has made just 11 appearances although he has only started four games and has scored no goals and provided just one assist. This shows that his refusal to sign for Liverpool ultimately benefited the Reds who now have one of the strongest midfields in the Premier League after the departure of the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.
