The defender still lacks good football in his matches

When it seemed that only bad football and injuries were the only impediments that made Liverpool too fragile in every Premier League match, on the pitch there have also been individual mistakes that do not help in the least, destroying all the tactical and physical work done by this team before facing each of their rivals.

For this game against Leeds United these failures manifested themselves just a few minutes after the opening whistle, when defender Joe Gomez made a mistake in a move that had no apparent complexity, as in his attempt to try to get the ball away from goalkeeper Allisson Becker, the Englishman ended up serving a cross to Rodrigo Moreno who simply took advantage of the miscommunication between the two players and pushed the ball in to take a 1-0 lead.

Jürgen Klopp's famed dressing room goal has often forced them to change their approach on the pitch so early in the game, with those early goals usually being very visible defensive errors, with Gomez having already caused a couple of them during the 2022-2023 season.

Before the game against Leeds United, the English defender already had a negative record with certain coverages that left much to be desired, putting at risk the final result of his team on more than one occasion as in that penalty he committed against West Ham United just over a week ago, being saved on that occasion by the same Alisson Becker who today also collaborated in that first goal of the rival.

This type of mistake obviously caused anger in the Reds' dugout, as manager Jurgen Klopp was not at all happy with the adverse situation his team was already in after four minutes, and even more so when Liverpool have not been at all effective when they have to come from behind.
