The Liverpool manager assessed the transfer market with particular emphasis on the departure of Sadio Mané to Bayern Munich and the difficulty of replacing him

Jürgen Klopp took advantage of Liverpool's pre-season training camp in Thailand to give an interview to the British media Sky Sports. In that conversation he assessed the transfer market that the Anfield team is undertaking. In addition, he was particularly concerned about one player: Sadio Mané.

The German coach cleared any kind of controversy or disagreement and settled the matter by explaining that the Senegalese striker simply wanted to leave the team. "Sometimes things go your way and sometimes you have to react to a situation, like when Sadio told us he wanted to leave. We knew then that we had to replace him, he is a very good player. Fortunately, we were able to do so in the winter by bringing in Luis Díaz and now we've brought in Darwin Núñez," he said, praising the two new reinforcements to his attacking line.

However, he admitted that he will miss the African attacker in certain circumstances: "We know how good Sadio Mané is, we will realize how good he was for us in certain moments, because there will be “Sadio moments” when no one else can do it like him.”

Klopp about the importance of renewal for the future

Klopp also placed importance on renovating the team year after year and bringing a breath of fresh air to the project: "We can't do the same thing year after year, it's just not possible. We have a base, we have to build on this base and be more unpredictable for other teams. And that is possible with the addition of other players. How can you improve a world-class football team? By training, obviously, we believe in that a lot, but also by bringing in new players. We need fresh blood, a new dynamic, new desire to create a team full of illusion and determination for what's coming.”
