After last season's Premier League title decider against Manchester City, Liverpool are a long way off the top of the table this year. In this 14th round of English football they will be looking to move closer to the international competition when they host Leeds United at Anfield. Liverpool come into this fixture on the back of a 3-0 away win over Ajax in the Champions League. In the European competition, where they are the current finalists, they have already qualified for the round of 16 along with Napoli in Group A.

However, in the Premier League they are in eighth place with 16 points, twelve points behind leaders Arsenal, who have 28 points. At the moment they are out of any European competition for next season. But it is worse for Leeds United, as they are one of the three bottom teams in English football, and for now they are relegated to the Championship. With nine points, the Foxes are eighteenth and have four consecutive defeats, the last of which was a 2-0 loss to Leicester City.

It has not been an easy start to the season for Jürgen Klopp's men, far from fighting for the Premier League they have had to settle for the international cups next season, with three defeats, four draws and the same number of wins in the eleven matches played so far, reaching 16 units and currently in eighth place, twelve points behind leaders Arsenal.

Although they secured their place in the last 16 of the Champions League this week with a 3-0 win over Ajax of the Netherlands, their last Premier League match was last weekend against historic Nottingham Forest, a team that surprised the Reds and beat them 1-0, thanks to a goal by Taiwo Awoniyi (55').

Leeds will have many absentees

Leeds United coach, Jesse Marsch has revealed Leeds could be without Luis Sinisterra, Rodrigo Moreno, Tyler Adams, Joe Gelhardt and Liam Cooper, on top of long-term absentees Stuart Dallas, Adam Forshaw and Leo Hjelde, ahead of this weekend's clash with Liverpool.
