Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has added Naby Keita to the transfer list ahead of the January window. That’s according to Italian outlet Calciomercato. They claim that Keita is up for sale from Liverpool this winter, along with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita. It’s the last chance for Liverpool to get a return on Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita, who’s contracts are up next summer.
Should they fail to be moved on in January, Liverpool will lose the pair, who cost a combined £83m, for nothing. The trio have played just three games between them for Liverpool this season. The Reds are already in need of some fresh legs in the position without losing any more.

Back in the summer, it had appeared that they may be left scrambling to bring a player in much sooner than that. According to reports from Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenburg on Twitter, Keita was not happy at Liverpool. Having not been given assurances over playing time, contract talks were said to be off the table. It had looked as though the 27-year-old genuinely might leave.
Then, as it often does with Keita, injury struck. The No.8 hasn’t featured for Liverpool since July’s Community Shield win over Manchester City. Now closing in on a comeback, perhaps there’s still time for him to turn things around and win a new contract. Klopp rates him – calling him ‘incredible’ via liverpoolfc.com back in April – but time is certainly running out.
As Liverpool approach something of a transitional period, it seems likely that, one way or another, Keita won’t be at Anfield this time next year. Should Liverpool look to move Keita on in January, they would absolutely have to bring in at least one midfielder.
