Jürgen Klopp has been able to accommodate his team so that they can continue to perform at a high level, as the team has struggled quite a bit with injuries that continue to plague the team since the start of the tournament. So the work of Klopp and the players has been maintained quite well, denoting the commitment of each of the players in every game.

This has meant that the internal competition within the team has been fierce, and one of the places that has been most affected by injuries has been the team's defence, where Ibrahima Konaté started the tournament as the second central defender alongside Virgil Van Dijk, but after his injury, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Jarrell Quansah have been showing an excellent level, which has meant that Matip is now the second defender.

Joel Matip had been underperforming in recent seasons, however Klopp's high demands have seen all his players react appropriately. So Matip has been a regular for Klopp and the former Cameroon international has earned his place with great performances, helping the team a lot.

After the match won at Anfield on Sunday, the team had a great performance, however the bad news does not stop, as Matip left the game injured because he had a physical problem, and it seems that he had a problem in his knee and Klopp stated the following "Today we lost Joel and obviously we don't have any scans yet, but after all you can hear and see that it won't be short. It's his knee. Bad luck, but we have to get through this." So Klopp continues to suffer from injuries.

List of injured players

The Reds have a large number of injured players which has left Klopp having to look at youth players to find suitable replacements for his team. The injured players include Andy Robertson, Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcántara, Stefan Bajčetić and now Joel Matip, who will have to wait to find out how serious his injury is.
