He knows what it's like to wear the team's shirt but even so former footballer Joe Cole dared to give a statement that fired up Liverpool fans. During an interview God's opinion on the level of Hernandez's centre-back Virgil van Dijk who for many is currently the best defender on the planet and also one of the best that has been in the Premier League in recent years due to his high performance and strength when scoring.

In an interview on a YouTube channel the midfielder who played at Anfield in 2010 and 2012 made a comparison that raised controversy as he assured that the former Manchester United Rio Ferdinand is better than shining the apron who has been one of the figures of Liverpool during the Champions League and Premier League title. The 31-year-old is in his fifth year in a Reds shirt this season.

“That is with the most respect to Van Dijk who I think is the best around at the moment but he needs to win multiple league titles. I think centre-halves can get judged on what they win and the teams they play in but he needs to win multiple things.”, were the words of Joe Cole, who played for the national team and retired as a professional player in 2018, during an interview.
