Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that midfielder Alexis Mac Allister's knee injury 'doesn't look good' with just over a week to go until their clash with Manchester United at Anfield.
The Argentine, who joined the Merseyside outfit from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer transfer window, was forced off just before the hour-mark in Wednesday night's 2-0 win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. He required stitches and vowed that he would bounce back soon.
The initial prognosis did not suggest that it was an injury to cause too much concern, but he is now expected to miss Saturday's trip to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace. Though Klopp has not put a specific time frame on his potential period of his absence, he has warned that he doesn't know if he will be available to face Erik ten Hag's side on December 17.
Klopp, speaking to the media on Friday morning, said, Macca doesn't look good, so we have to see day by day. They were pretty hopeful after the game that it was not serious. It's not that serious but in the period of the year if you are out for five days, it's 12 games pretty much. We have to wait there how he shows up here today. I don't expect him to be ready for tomorrow, I don't know about Thursday or Sunday after that, so it's pretty much stop and go. We have to see.
Elsewhere, Klopp will almost certainly welcome first-choice goalkeeper Alisson back into his plans for the visit of United in just over a week's time. Though he may not be strong enough to face Palace, he is likely to be healthy enough to return for the clash with United.
