Liverpool are not living a good sporting present in the Premier League and after the defeat against Nottingham Forest in the last game in a surprising way, alarms were set off by the level of Jürgen Klopp's team, who are eighth with 16 points. Criticism of Liverpool has been pouring in from all sides, and now former Reds player John Aldridge, who has made no secret of his disappointment at the team's inconsistent season, is expressing his dissatisfaction.
Nottingham Forest played well and deserved to win. But if Luis Diaz is on the wing and Diogo Jota or Darwin Nunez is with Roberto Firmino, the result would be different. It will be frustrating for Klopp to have those players off the pitch," Aldridge acknowledged in a column in the Liverpool Echo.

Aldridge also confirmed that what lies ahead for Liverpool before the World Cup is very difficult, as they will have Champions League and tough Premier League games with those absentees. "In cup games, with all due respect to lower league opposition, it wouldn't be a problem. But when you play in the Premier League, they are always difficult games," the former player concluded in his column.
For the time being, Liverpool's next game will be Ajax, in the Champions League, where they hope to win away and thus be close to qualification. Portugal striker Diogo Jota will miss the World Cup with a calf injury, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp announced on Tuesday. The 25-year-old striker picked up the injury in the final minutes of his side's win over Manchester City.
It is worth remembering that, at the start of the season, Luis Díaz was a fundamental part of Klopp's scheme; he even saved his side from several defeats, something that would have had the team at the bottom of the table. Depending on his recovery, the Colombia international could be out until the end of December or early January, when he is expected to be fit enough to resume the season with Liverpool.
