The Senegalese continues to prove he is a star on the pitch, but a great person off the pitch

In addition to his football talent, Sadio Mané has been recognised for his great work with social causes, especially those related to his country, Senegal. Just a few weeks ago, the Bayern Munich player received the Socrates Award during the Ballon d'Or award ceremony, this new award recognises his commitment to building a fairer and more inclusive society. Mané, who also played a key role in Senegal's qualification for Qatar 2022, has made another admirable gesture, signing a dozen Bayern shirts that were given to children in his home village of Bambali.

It was Brazilian journalist Arthur Quezada, who shared through his social networks that after learning that he would go to Bambali to document Mané's roots, he decided to contact Bayern staff so that they could give them some shirts with the Senegalese player's signature on them and give them to the children of the village. The club's response was successful and Sadio Mané did not hesitate to sign each of the shirts that were given to the children, who enjoyed a 'cascarita' with their shirts autographed by the star of their national team.

Sadio Mané is a constant supporter of his community, which he has helped to build a hospital, school and internet links to try to reduce the inequality and lack of communication between rural areas in Senegal. The Champions League group stage comes to a close this week with the final round of fixtures. The more fortunate ones, such as Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, arrived at this date with the satisfaction of having punched their ticket early.

Although the match between the two clubs at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday was anecdotal, the chance to see two of Europe's strongest teams on the pitch is always attractive. In that context, the Germans ran out solid 2-0 winners. Benjamin Pavard scored the first goal of the game in the first half for Julian Nagelsmann's side, who extended the lead in the second half with Eric Choupo-Moting's powerful long-range strike into the right corner.

Despite the attractive goals, it was a controversial play that continues to reverberate on social media after the match. On nine minutes, Nicolo Barella shot from outside the box and Sadio Mané covered his face, deflecting the ball with his hands. After a VAR review, Ivan Kruzliak decided not to award a penalty.
