A couple of weeks ago Liverpool fans witnessed one of the saddest, most painful and difficult farewells we have had to say in recent years, as after 12 seasons at the club, Jordan Henderson said goodbye to join the long list of players who left European football this summer to join the Saudi Pro League.

Our former captain during the team's last golden era and who led us to win every possible title in recent years, decided to reunite with another Anfield legend, Steven Gerrard, at Al-Ettifaq where he was offered one of the highest salaries in the world for a footballer.

However, in several interviews and according to several reports, Jordan Henderson not only took into account the economic aspect to leave Anfield, but also told his teammates in his farewell speech at Liverpool that he was also leaving to make way for young players and not to hinder the growth and development of the team.

Now, Henderson has given one more clue as to why he finally decided to end his cycle with the Reds and it has nothing to do with money, but with a purely sporting issue that he believes will be better for his career.

Another reason for Henderson's move to Saudi Arabia

Jordan Henderson has again mentioned one of the reasons why he decided to accept the offer from Al-Ettifaq this summer, as he assured that the Saudi Pro League will grow in the coming years and the sporting project convinced him. "It's an exciting time, the project and something different is the reason why I wanted to come here. Over the next few years, I'm sure it will grow and I want to be part of that to help it grow," he said.
