Neymar's arrival at Al Hilal for two seasons at a price of €100m each has once again highlighted the huge amount of money that European football stars who decide to make the jump to Saudi Arabia are receiving. The Brazilian star enters the top three of the players who will earn the most money in the Saudi Pro League.
Le Parisien has dared to make a ranking of the best paid players on the planet and the superiority of Saudi Arabia is scandalous. Al Nassr made the biggest splash with the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese signed until 2025 after leaving Manchester United for €200m per season. Karin Benzema will receive a similar amount for each of the three seasons he wears the Al Ittihad shirt.
On the third step of the podium is Neymar, who signs for Al Hilal (Saudi Arabia's other big club) for just over €100m per year. This is similar to the amount paid to N'Golo Kanté for saying no to Chelsea's renewal offer and joining Al Ittihad until 2026.
According to the Le Parisien ranking, there are only two players who are among the highest paid on the planet without yet playing in Saudi Arabia, including Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane, who made history with Liverpool. In fifth place is Kylian Mbapp, who is reported to be earning around €70m per season with PSG. The next is Leo Messi, but already with a significant gap with respect to the rest of the super paid. Leo Messi would reach €45m per season. The Argentine signed until 2025 with Inter Miami.
