Although there are only a little more than two weeks left until the end of the summer transfer window in Europe, our Liverpool is aiming to get a couple of players to strengthen the team before a season that looks like a very complicated one if the arrival of more reinforcements does not materialize, at least that is the impression left by the team after its debut in the Premier League 2023-2024 against Chelsea.

It seems that this sense of urgency is not something that is only among the fans, but that Jürgen Klopp himself is urgent to incorporate at least two more players to the squad, and the priority would be to incorporate a defensive midfielder to give more balance to the team. In the last couple of days, Liverpool lost their two main targets for that position and that is why the team is now racing against the clock to find new reinforcements.

Many names have emerged as possible candidates or as Jürgen Klopp's supposed interests, but everyone seems to have their favorites to arrive at Anfield this summer. In that sense, former Liverpool player Jermaine Pennant, who won a Community Shield and an FA Cup with the Reds, gave his opinion on which players the Anfield board should sign to reinforce the team.

Pennant, 40, said that one of the players he would like to see at Liverpool is French midfielder Khéphren Thuram, who has been linked with the club almost since the start of the transfer window and now, after the failed signings of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, is reportedly back on Jürgen Klopp's radar. But he is not the only one Pennant proposed, as he also assured that he would be happy with the arrival of a player valued at 75 million euros.

Who is it?

Jermaine Pennant said he would like to see 26-year-old Italian midfielder Nicolo Barella who played in the last Champions League final with Inter Milan. ""I'd like to see Liverpool bring in Nicolo Barella from Inter Milan. He looks a really good player in that holding position as well," he said.
