In modern football it is increasingly difficult to find players loyal to a single team, as money often corrupts them and leads them to betray the team that has given them everything. Liverpool has suffered great betrayals throughout its history, but there is one in particular that hurt a lot at Anfield, as the fans considered him the next great star of the team.

And the fact is that Liverpool has managed to be one of the teams that inspires a deep affection in its players towards the institution, because in addition to giving them the possibility of winning important titles year after year, the Anfield fans are simply the best in the world, with the most legendary chant and the most loyal fans.

That's why, when a player betrays the team, the shadow of Anfield follows him. And in this case, repentance came early. We are talking about Philippe Coutinho, the Brazilian midfielder who dazzled everyone during his time at Liverpool and who, together with Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling, formed one of the most dangerous tridents in European football. Coutinho won the heart of Jürgen Klopp, who considered him one of the key pieces for the club's project, but Coutinho decided to betray him and asked to leave the team.

After his departure, Coutinho went to FC Barcelona, where he thought he could win the titles he had been denied with Liverpool, however he was never able to shine in Spain and the club decided to loan him to FC Bayern where he also failed to show the level he got to have in Liverpool. Finally, Coutinho ended up at Aston Villa, a team that today is already planning his departure, as they do not want him anymore.

Coutinho's devaluation after leaving Anfield

In his best moments as a footballer, Philippe Coutinho played for Liverpool and was valued at 150 million euros, which projected him as one of the best players in the world. Today, he is worth just €14 million, an amount that few teams would be willing to pay for him.
