At 62, Rafael Benitez has been without a club since he was sacked from Everton in January. According to reports, Rafa Benitez recently refused to take over from Julen Lopetegui at Sevilla as he demanded a three-year contract to take charge of the club. However, the former Valencia and Real Madrid boss, among others, has now announced his intention to return to coaching.

"In the last few months, I have received several proposals, some of them interesting, but I considered that it was not the best time to accept them. I want to coach in a top league, where good football is played. Perhaps the fact that I have coached some top teams in important tournaments limits the possible options, but I have always liked new challenges," said Rafa Benítez in an interview with Il Corriere dello Sport.

He is the worst signing of the Klopp era, Liverpool no longer want him and this is his replacement

Nottingham Forest, currently bottom of the Premier League, are reportedly considering Rafa Benítez for their bench after their pharaonic project in English football's top flight did not start as they had hoped. At the bottom of the table after eight games, the nearly 160 million euros invested in 22 signings have not been enough to put the historic Nottingham Forest back on course for a return to the top flight.

The former Liverpool boss said it is essential to have the clear backing of the board to manage a dressing room. "If the players know that the coach is supported by the management, they follow the plan without complaint. When they don't feel that there is that support, the situation starts to take on water and that's when the coach is weakened," he said.
Benítez, who won 13 titles during his career, including the 2005 Champions League with Liverpool, recalled that today he is "a better coach".

Klopp knows something is not right

In a final public appearance, Benítez spoke about Liverpool's current form and said Jurgen Klopp's formation changes are because the manager knows something is wrong with the team: "When Jurgen Klopp is changing the team, as he is now, he knows something is not right. He has tried to fix the problems by moving from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 and, recently, he has played a "diamond" with Roberto Firmino behind Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez. At the moment, other teams are pushing and pressing Liverpool. When this happens, Fabinho has more problems if he does not have two or three options available."
