He was one of the team's best players and is very close to retirement

Today, 9 years ago, Liverpool suffered one of the most sensitive casualties we have had in recent times, because on July 11, 2014, Luis Suarez signed for FC Barcelona after a period at Anfield of 2 and a half years in which he became one of the best players of the team and undoubtedly projected him as one of the best strikers in the world.

It was precisely in Liverpool where Luis Suarez became known internationally, because thanks to his great goals and brilliant performances, he aroused the interest of other teams that eventually led him to leave Anfield, leaving almost 82 million euros in the team's pockets. During his time at Liverpool, Suarez had some great moments, but he also experienced some very dark episodes that could have ruined his successful career.

His first scandal in England occurred in October 2011, when in a match against Manchester United, the Red Devils defender, Patrice Evra, accused him of having said racist insults and after discussing the case, the FA sanctioned him with 8 matches, when Suarez and Evra met again, the Uruguayan did not want to greet him and that generated even more friction between the two. In April 2013, Suarez bit Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic. That was the second, but not the last time he bit an opponent, and that brought him a 10-match suspension from the FA.

Despite those incidents, Luis Suarez managed to establish himself as one of the best strikers in Liverpool's history, and many consider the Uruguayan to be the best striker in the world during his time with FC Barcelona, however today retirement could be very near.

Why would Luis Suarez retire?

Luis Suarez currently plays for Gremio of Brazil, a team with which he still has one year left on his contract. However, several reports claim that the Uruguayan striker is negotiating his termination with the club as he is considering retirement due to a knee injury.
