Ryan Gravenberch became our Liverpool's fourth and final signing of the summer transfer window when he arrived from FC Bayern on the last day of the transfer window for €40 million plus €5 million in add-ons. The former Ajax man had been one of Jürgen Klopp's main targets for at least a year and now, thanks to the lack of minutes he had in Germany, he finally became a Reds player.
Gravenberch's signing has thrilled Anfield fans who believe that with his arrival at the club the midfield rebuild that was so much talked about over the summer with the departures of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been completed.
However, having been signed on the last day of the transfer window, the Anfield board failed to register him in time for him to be part of the club's squad for the Premier League match against Aston Villa, so he had to watch the 3-0 win from the stands.
Now, with the international break, Ryan Gravenberch will have to wait at least a couple of weeks to have the opportunity to make his debut for Jürgen Klopp's team, and it seems that the Dutch midfielder aims to focus on working with the club so he has made a decision that has not been very well received in his country.
Ryan Gravenberch was called up to the Netherlands Under-21 squad for a couple of games during the international break. However, the 21-year-old midfielder has said he will not go with his national team because he wants to stay and work with Klopp to earn a place in the team, something that has not gone down well with the Netherlands U21 coach. "I don't like his choice to stay at Liverpool & I have told him this. If you can join the national team, you do this with your heart, and don't think about yourself," he said.
