Harvey Elliot (20 years old) has been identified as a player of the present and the future for the Reds' wide midfield, and is delighted to be at Liverpool. Admittedly, it has not been an easy season for the Premier League giants, but they are confident of regaining their prestige under Jürgen Klopp. Meanwhile, their talented player has admitted that he could once have joined Real Madrid.
"I was close to going to Madrid, and I think that's when Liverpool's interest came. As soon as we heard they were interested, the decision was made. I had made up my mind, and it was only because I'm a Liverpool fan, like the whole family. My father's dream was to play for Liverpool, but he didn't make it. My little brother is also a big fan, maybe one of the biggest I've ever seen. He's always bringing me information about the team that I don't even know," he told the We Are Liverpool podcast.
Liverpool's hopes of reaching the 2023-24 Champions League have been hampered by a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa. The Reds are now on the brink of reaching Europe's top club competition with one game of the Premier League season remaining, and even Roberto Firmino's late goal at Anfield failed to prevent the Reds from slipping to fifth on 66 points (+28), making it difficult for them to catch Newcastle (+35) and Manchester United (+11), both on 69 points, albeit with a game in hand.
Failure to qualify for the Champions League would represent a major impact on the economic side for Liverpool so they would have to look for some sales and the best option is Harvey Elliot who could be sold for about 40 million and according to several reports one of the teams interested is Newcastle who after more than a decade will return to play in the Champions League.
