Former Liverpool defender Phil Thompson has urged Roy Keane to 'get a life' after the Manchester United legend's spat with Virgil van Dijk. Keane took issue with Van Dijk after the Liverpool defender claimed United were 'buzzing' to come away from Anfield with a point following a hard-fought 0-0 draw on Sunday. The Dutch defender insisted only one team was trying to win the clash and that Liverpool were far superior on the day.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the match, Keane labelled Van Dijk's comments as 'arrogant' and pointed to the tough moments Liverpool had gone through in the past. The pundit also aimed a sly dig at Jurgen Klopp's side, stating they had only won one Premier League title in 30 years.

Van Dijk gave a measured response to the criticism but Liverpool icon Thompson was far less impressed. He disagreed with Keane's comments and urged the former United man to 'get a life'. “I don’t think he was arrogant, I just think he was giving his opinion,” Thompson told talkSPORT. “As Roy gives his opinion, as Gary [Neville] gives his opinion. It wasn’t arrogant by any means. I would say it was frustration.

“I really feel as though you’ve come off that game, you know you’ve dominated, Manchester United have had that one chance with [Rasmus] Hojlund, and you’ve just felt frustration. Arrogance wasn’t in it. “And for Roy Keane to be talking about arrogance in people… come on, do me a favour. And I love Roy…but I played that back and he just kept repeating the word. Roy, just get a life!”

Van Dijk criticizes Onana for wasting time

Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana was the target of criticism from Van Dijk due to his wasting time. After the game, the Liverpool centre-back approached Onana in the locker room tunnel, commenting: "Thanks to you we only played a half-hour game." Onana responded with a smile, but his tactics did not go unnoticed.
