For some time now, but especially in recent days, Saudi Pro League interest in signing Mohamed Salah has intensified as our player is one of the best in the world and is also a highly admired figure in the Middle East. In that sense, Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, has completely ruled out that his team, Al-Ettifaq, will be one of those who will try to sign Salah in the near future.
Just this summer, Gerrard himself has taken another of Liverpool's legends of recent years, as a few days ago the arrival of our late captain Jordan Henderson, who was persuaded to join Saudi football on a multi-million dollar salary, was made official. However, Steven Gerrard has completely ruled out that his team will try to steal the current top star at Anfield.
Mo Salah has already turned down a hefty offer to join another Saudi Pro League side this summer, with Al-Ittihad reportedly offering him 180 million euros in wages to sign a two-year contract. However, the Pharaoh was, once again, fully committed to our Liverpool and Salah's own agent assured that if they were thinking of leaving Anfield they would not have signed a contract extension recently.
But it seems that Saudi Arabia's interest will not end there, as several media and journalists have already reported that next year, the Arab league would launch a bigger offer to sign Salah, although this large offer will not be in terms of the transfer offer but in terms of the salary that will be offered to Mo. But if there is one thing we can be sure of, it is that Gerrard will not be the one to steal our star player.
The eternal captain of our Liverpool, Steven Gerrard, assured that the reason why his team, Al-Ettifaq, will not look to sign Salah is simply because he does not want Mo to leave Liverpool as he wants him to continue helping the Reds to win more titles. "The answer is no because Salah is my favourite player, I love Liverpool, so Mohamed Salah can stay where he is. When he wins more leagues and Champions Leagues with Liverpool, we'll maybe consider it." said Gerrard.
