Cody Gakpo, Dutch winger, became one of the first winter signings after the Qatar 2022 World Cup

Dutch winger Cody Gakpo became one of the first winter signings after the Qatar 2022 World Cup with his transfer from PSV to Liverpool of England. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the transfer was closed at 42 million euros fixed and another 14 million euros in variables, making it the most expensive sale of the Dutch team in its history, unseating 'Chucky' Lozano for 45 million euros.

The Dutch club wrote on social media, "PSV and Liverpool have reached an agreement on the proposed transfer of Cody Gakpo. The 23-year-old attacker will leave imminently for England where he will undergo the necessary formalities in order to finalise the transfer," PSV said.

The winger was one of the big surprises of the Qatar 2022 World Cup. He played a major role in helping the Netherlands reach the quarter-finals. Gakpo scored three goals for the Clockwork Orange at the last World Cup. Gakpo, 23, starred in the opening stages of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, scoring in the first three games to help his side reach the quarter-finals.

The Reds fans were expecting a lot from Nunez, who came on fire after the Pool's last game on their Middle East tour, where they beat Italian champions AC Milan 4-1 in a friendly, thanks to a brace from the charrúa, who after a dismal World Cup with Uruguay in the group stages in Qatar, wanted to redeem himself and prove he is a natural goalscorer, winning over the loyal Anfield fans in one fell swoop.

Mbappé costs 400 million

For Mbappé to arrive at Anfield is 400 million euros for an eventual exit of the Frenchman. Undoubtedly this insane price tag means that very few clubs in the world could afford it. The Reds would have to make a huge effort to raise that sum, either by selling big superstars, or with a financial injection from new owners or sponsors to help The Pool in the second half of the season.
