Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch has completely questioned the decision to postpone the ten Premier League games this weekend following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday, posting on his official Twitter account an idea which he believes would have been a good way to send off England's majesty.
Although the former British footballer is well aware that there are more important things than football, in his view it would have been more memorable to continue Matchday 7 but with the wearing of black armbands, a dedication to the Queen's memory with a minute's silence and the playing of the national anthem by a band, making a huge impact on the hundreds of millions of people who love English football.
"Liverpool will fight for the title', ex-star's hopeful words
The hopeful news Liverpool was hoping for improvement
While the publication may have meant to some people a total lack of respect for the crown family, for all Premier League fans it seemed like a good idea, as more than a few expressed their displeasure at the authorities for postponing the 10 games this weekend, with many having to wait for Europa League or Champions League matches to see their club back in action.
Part of the changes caused by this unfortunate death not only remained in the suspension of matchday 6, but will also most likely affect the next London clubs' fixtures, as the police, being fully focused on the Queen's funeral, will not be able to cover Tottenham, Brentford and Chelsea's games.
It seems that the idea of this footballer who retired a couple of years ago was not so far-fetched, as just a few months before the World Cup and with a tight schedule that some teams in England have with European competitions, the best decision would have been to continue with the show, as happened in the Manchester United-Real Sociedad match on Thursday, or as will happen with Liverpool vs Ajax on the second day of the Champions League.
