Our Liverpool has been the home of great strikers who have marked epoch with our club and the last of them to achieve this was Roberto Firmino, who became an Anfield legend thanks to his enormous performances and the fact that he was one of the key pieces for the team's success in the last golden era of the club in which, under the command of Jürgen Klopp, won every trophy possible.
However, this summer Jürgen Klopp decided that Firmino's time with the club was over and after talking it over with the Brazilian striker they agreed that he would not renew his contract with the team and left as a free agent to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad. Undoubtedly Firmino's departure will leave a huge hole in the team that will not be easy to fill, as the Anfield board brought in Darwin Nunez to fill that role, but the Uruguayan was a big disappointment last season.
However, although Nunez did not have the best debut season that could have been expected, the Uruguayan striker still has the firm intention of becoming one of the most important players of the team in the coming years, and it seems that he has the full backing and confidence of Klopp, but now things might not be so easy as he has competition within the club.
In that sense, during the team's preseason, it seems that the club has found the true heir to Bobby Firmino, and it is none other than Cody Gakpo, the Dutch striker who arrived at Anfield in the winter market and has gradually begun to earn a place in the team. Now, during pre-season training Gakpo could have given the final proof that he will be the next Roberto Firmino.
During Liverpool's training for the upcoming preseason game, Cody Gakpo scored a goal with one of Bobby Firmino's signature moves, as he finished off the ball while turning the other way, something that made fans watching the video think of the Brazilian and get excited about Gakpo's future at Anfield.
