Just when it seemed that the only blunder Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp had made was letting Sadio Mané go so easily to German football, the idea of wrong decisions continued with the failed signings of Darwin Núñez and Cody Gakpo, with the issue of Roberto Firmino coming to the fore for 2023 and why he is still with the Reds if he has failed to fill the void left by the now Bayern Munich attacker.
Former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand was both confused and surprised by the poor decisions Liverpool have made regarding Sadio Mané's departure, questioning why the Reds did not simply decide to pay enough money for the Senegalese to opt to stay on Merseyside. "Why didn't they simply pay him the money to stay?"
Having exposed the Reds' first big mistake, Ferdinand also said the Anfield institution were wrong to have preferred Roberto Firmino's continuity over Mané, with the former footballer still failing to understand how Liverpool let a world-class striker go so easily. "I think they let the wrong one go, they should have let Firmino go, I just don't understand how you let someone go who is world class at the time."
With much of the season having gone by for Liverpool, the criticism surrounding the poor decisions made by Klopp and his entourage has begun to surface, for just as people talk about the failure that Nunez is being up front, some more see the Brazilian Firmino as an unproductive player who only briefly filled in for Mané's absence, As the weeks go by, Firmino is dissolving and disappearing completely from any kind of competition, and it is even being said that his departure from Anfield is more than imminent, with Real Madrid being one of his many possible destinations.
