Throughout its history, Liverpool has had great players, legends, myths, icons who became part of the legacy of England's greatest club, because thanks to their great performances they earned the affection of Anfield. In modern times, the Reds have had some of the best players in their respective positions.
However, time does not pass in vain and those great figures of our Liverpool are no longer those youngsters who surprised the world and excited all the fans. Now, one of the last great idols of Anfield, and one of the most beloved players by the fans, is about to retire as a professional footballer, which fills us with nostalgia after a great career full of successes.
We are talking about Luis Suarez, the 36-year-old Uruguayan striker who currently plays for Gremio in the Brazilian league. Suarez established himself as one of the best players in the world in his prime and at Liverpool he set out on the road to becoming the best center forward in the world. During his three-and-a-half-year stay at Anfield, Luis wowed everyone with his great goals.
Since his arrival in 2011, Suarez earned the trust and affection of Anfield, as his extraordinary quality led him to score a total of 82 goals in just 132 games. It was precisely in our Liverpool when the whole world turned to see Luis Suarez and he quickly caught the attention of other teams. In 2014 he signed for FC Barcelona and there he won absolutely everything, alongside Messi and Neymar.
Luis Suarez currently plays for Gremio in the Brazilian league, however a knee injury would be making him seriously consider his retirement from professional activity. Several reports claim that the Uruguayan striker's representatives are negotiating with Gremio to terminate Suarez's contract.
