The race for the Premier League title is still on and after Wednesday's results on matchday 15, Liverpool emerged as one of the main contenders to lift the trophy next year after beating Sheffield United away by a score of 2-0 while Manchester City lost away to Aston Villa and Pep Guardiola's side are falling behind.

The Reds struggled to get the win but thanks to the talent of their squad and the good management of German coach Jurgen Klopp, who made changes in the starting line-up with the inclusion of Dutch striker Cody Gakpo in place of Uruguayan Darwin Nunez who came on until the second half to be vital as he provided an assist for the goal.

Manchester City also lost on their visit to Birmingham where they lost by a score of 1-0, dropping them to fourth place in the overall table while the Reds moved up to third place, two points behind Liverpool and now only have to worry about Arsenal who are two points clear at the top but with a worse goal difference.

Goodbye Manchester City

This defeat for Pep Guardiola's side is undoubtedly a blow that takes them further away from the Premier League title race in what is a sign that off-field problems are also weighing on them as there is an investigation against them for breaking financial rules in recent years. Liverpool can walk towards the title as although they are below Arsenal they have improved their goal difference to +20 while the Gunners are +19.
