Fabinho's departure to Al-Ittihad has been confirmed after the Anfield board agreed a £40 million deal with the Saudi club for the sale of the 29-year-old Brazilian defensive midfielder. Fabinho agreed to join Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kanté's side on a three-year deal that will tie him to the Saudi Pro League champions until 2026.

Fabinho's departure will undoubtedly leave a huge hole in the team, as El Flaco had become one of the pillars of the squad and of Jürgen Klopp's scheme, who had envisaged him as a starting player for next season, but Fabinho was seduced by the project and the salary offered in Saudi Arabia and Klopp had no choice but to give the green light to his departure from the club.

For many, Fabinho is not only a great figure of the last years of our Liverpool during which we conquered every possible trophy, but for many he is already a legend of the club, as during his best years in our team he was considered one of the best if not the best defensive midfielder in the world.

Now, after his departure has been made official, Fabinho has dedicated a few words of thanks for the club and the fans at Anfield, and took the opportunity to take one last swipe at FC Barcelona, recalling that magical night in 2019 when our Liverpool came from 0-3 down to advance to the grand final of the Champions League, which we ended up winning that year.

Fabinho's last dart at Barcelona

Through a writing on social networks, Fabinho recalled that May 7, 2019 as the best game of his life. "Thanks to Liverpool, I played in the best stadium in the world, with the best atmosphere in the world, which is Anfield. Thanks to Liverpool, I lived the biggest match of my life, the comeback against Barcelona, which was only possible thanks to Anfield. That moment will always be in my memory. I love what this crowd represents for the club. This love relationship between the club and the fans has always impressed me. And I can say without fear that "You'll never walk alone", after that match, alongside our fans, was the most defining moment of my career with Liverpool. I say this with a heart full of joy: I love this club" he wrote.
